Lobik Brewery
Maribor · Ruše · Hoče — Slovenia

The next evolutionary step in craft brewing

An independent brewery from Maribor. We brew the beer we like to drink — a touch stronger, a little more complex, and from the best ingredients.

Our story

How it started, what our name means and what our goal is?

The Lobik story starts with rowing practice and four kids, aged between 15 and 17, who couldn't buy themselves a beer. So we decided to brew our own. Eight long years of studying, experimenting and hard graft had to pass before we were finally happy with our beer. In 2016 we plucked up the courage and opened our own brewery. It took another two years of heavy debt and unpaid hours before our work finally paid off — we became recognised as the best brewery in the region.

Because all that brewing, growing up and skipping rowing practice left us a fair few (okay, we won't lie — a lot of) kilos heavier, one of us earned the nickname Lobik: the fat silver carp that haunts the rivers and lakes of Europe. Its round, well-fed figure is an honest glimpse of the future for the rest of the team, too!

After ten years of brewing our goal hasn't changed: to make the beer we like to drink — a touch higher in alcohol, a little more complex in flavour. That means the best ingredients and, yes, a slightly higher price. We hope you love it as much as we do, and drink it with the same joy we brew it!

Our beers

From sessionable lagers to hop bombs

A core line-up, monthly specials, fruited sour bombs and a secret stash of barrel-aged sours.

Marburger

Helles lager

Even though the now-iconic Marburger is a craft beer, it's a lager you can drink all day long. It's made from the finest German malts from the Weyermann maltings and fresh Slovenian hops, all brought together by an alpine yeast. You'll find it on tap everywhere from hotels, stadiums and resorts to town-centre bars.

Styrian pils · taproom house beer

We spent a long time travelling the Czech Republic, talking to brewers and touring breweries. Even though we're lovers of German lagers, we fell for the Czech pils all over again. For our Divjaki taproom we brewed something special — everything is done by Czech methods, but with German malt. Instead of Czech Saaz we use the Slovenian Styrian Aurora hop, which gives it a distinctive aroma and aftertaste.

Modern American IPA / pale ale

Our all-time favourite — it drinks like a very light IPA or a very tasty pale ale. Citra, Mosaic and Cascade round it into an exceptionally drinkable, fruit-balanced thirst killer. A fruity-citrus tropical aroma and intense tropical notes (mostly melon, grapefruit and passion fruit) follow through on the taste, while added oats turn it into a hazy fruit bomb. A pleasant taste and just the right bitter finish. The best-rated Slovenian pale ale.

Why we can

Because a can protects the beer best

01

Protecting the hops

Our priority is protecting the beer from light and air, beer's two biggest enemies. With the huge amounts of hops in our brews, our first job is to guard their flavour — and a can does exactly that.

02

Ready to hit the road

Because you can always pack more cans than bottles into a cooler bag. What's better than the optimal combination of quality and quantity?

03

All about the beer

We don't have to lie to you when we say the beer will still be good in six months. Cans keep it in optimal condition and at its best flavour for far longer.

04

Keeping the earth green

Aluminium cans are 100% recyclable, and in just sixty days, which adds another big plus to our can score list.

Divjaki taproom

Fresh beer and good company in Hoče

In 2026 we opened the new Divjaki taproom together with Skunk Urban Kitchen — a beer garden under the conifers, at least five beers on tap and Neapolitan pizza.
